Dr. Janja Lalich

Professor Emerita of Sociology at California State University, Chico, Dr. Janja Lalich has been studying controversial groups and abusive relationships for over 30 years, and has written and lectured extensively on the subject. Additionally, she has advised national and international intelligence communities on recruitment, indoctrination, and deradicalization, and has been an expert witness in civil and criminal cases. Her work has been translated into 10 languages and her books include: Bounded Choice: True Believers and Charismatic Cults (University of California Press), and Take Back Your Life: Recovering from Cults and Abusive Relationships (Bay Tree Press).
