Gia DeSantis

An entertainment industry veteran, the “Mary Richards of Indie Rock” began as co-producer, writer and host of “Request Video”, a daily, live music interview show whose guests included the likes of Joey Ramone, Lou Reed, Trent Reznor, Queen Latifah, N.W.A., and Nirvana. A DJ for the world famous KROQ, Indie1031.com (“Cocktails in the Kiddie Pool”) and NV89, where she also served as Music Director and contributed to NPR.com content, she also worked as an exec at Capitol and Warner Bros. Records, and as a consultant for other major labels. Her book contributions include For Whom the Cowbell Tolls: 25 Years of Paul’s Boutique and Crime and Punkishment. She’s currently in pre-production on a documentary about “Request Video,” how the music scene changed during its time on the air, and the show’s impact in Southern California. She has also raised two good humans who are active in making the world a better place.
